Japanese production of aluminium die castings increased by 3.9% year-on-year in May, according to the statistics by Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. The output recovered mainly for automobiles and hit the record volume as May. The demand seemed steady from small cars although major automakers announced output reduction of large vehicles in North America.The production was 76,624 tonnes for automobiles in May, increasing by 6.2% from a year earlier. The production also increased for general machineries, up by 0.6% year-on-year. On the other hand, the production remarkably decreased for electric machineries and motorcycles.
