Flat Angle, Channel Steel Price in Tokyo

Angle steel market price is flat at around 123,000 yen per tonne for product with 6 millimeters thick, 50 mm width at dealers’ sites around Tokyo. Channel steel is also flat at 128,000 yen for product with 5 mm thick, 50 by 100 mm width. The price shows sign to increase again in earlier the month but the slower demand cooled the mood. The market price could keep the level with wide range depending on the buyers when the dealers try to minimize the risk for unrecoverable transaction by selecting the buyers. The dealers’ inventory decreases slightly. The sales decreases slightly from June while their arrivals decrease by around 5% from the makers. Some makers reduce the order receipt from distributors, which could reduce the supply for distributors. The dealers try to find the timing to increase the offer by 3,000-5,000 yen per tonne. However, the demand gets slower when building plans are suspended even with hundreds million yen of cancel fee. The dealers expect the demand couldn’t recover until autumn and they focus on keeping the price level, instead of seeking higher price.
